Abstract The objective of this research is to design a Financial Rating model to determine the indicators that affect the credit risk profile of Corporate and Corporate Banking customers of Banco Ganadero SA, which serves as a quantitative support tool for analysts in the management of credit risk, providing an objective parameter that complements the qualitative analysis carried out within the framework of what the current ASFI standard establishes. We used a database formed mainly by financial ratios of clients of the business and corporate portfolio of Banco Ganadero S.A. With higher debit balances, given that these are large and consolidated companies, they have reliable financial information and since they present the largest debit balances they constitute a greater risk for the institution. For the design of the rating model, a statistical technique of multivariate analysis called discriminant analysis is used, a technique that is widely used for credit risk studies, whose objective is to analyze if there are significant differences between groups of subjects from a set of explanatory variables to classify new individuals in one of the groups. The results obtained show that the model is capable of discriminating against clients with good and bad payment capacity, it was also possible to reach a rate of successes in the classification of 72.1%; Additionally, the model was subjected to a forecast with the information of 10 new companies and whose results were contrasted with the evaluations made by the analysts of the Portfolio Monitoring and Qualification Unit, in which it was found that 70% of the cases were correctly classified by the model. Keywords: Financial Rating, Credit Risk, Discriminant Analysis.
