III ABSTRACT DESIGN OF A PENITENTIARY CENTER FOR MALE REHABILITATION AND SOCIAL REINTEGRATION, IN SANTA CRUZ DE LA SIERRA Renato Torrez Balcazar Guidance counselor: Dr. Arq. Irma Miriam Chugar Zubieta The objective of this degree project is to design a penitentiary center for male rehabilitation and social reintegration, with the objective of training, orienting and readapting inmates, through a functional network of services with the purpose of reintegrating them into society as productive and substantial members, in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The methodology used for the project was a bibliographic review of primary sources such as doctoral theses, scientific articles, Political Constitution of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, data from the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations (UN), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the General Directorate of the Penitentiary Regime (DGRP) and data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE); Secondary sources such as magazines, newspapers, blogs and websites were also used to obtain different qualitative and quantitative data related to the topic. Likewise, a field survey was carried out through observation visits, interviews with key people, focus groups, physical survey of the field and photographic record. We conclude with the understanding that training, orientation, rehabilitation and social reintegration are fundamental for those deprived of liberty, so that once they have served their sentence, they can have better opportunities for a better quality of life. Therefore, the study ends with the architectural design of a penitentiary center for male rehabilitation and social reintegration in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Key words: Penitentiary, rehabilitation, social reintegration.
