IV ABSTRACT DESIGN OF A CENTER FOR REHABILITATION AND SOCIAL REINSERTION IN THE CITY OF MONTERO Mauricio Mercado Rivero Research advisor: Arq. Verónica Arellano Hervoso The present work aims to design a medium security rehabilitation and social reintegration center for male offenders, under the ideal architectural structure of a closed prison regime where they can develop technical / humanistic training to reinsert themselves into the labor market after serving their sentence, such as It is mandated by Bolivian Laws, in the Municipality of Montero. The methodology used was a bibliographic review and information analysis, to identify quantitative and qualitative aspects regarding the subject. Likewise, the field survey was carried out, with observation visits to the site, interviews with key people, interviews with focus groups, physical survey of the land and its immediate surroundings, and photographic record. We conclude that the prison system in Montero, as in the entire country, is deficient, unhealthy, precarious and uninhabitable, in other words, it is subhuman. Therefore, an attempt has been made to determine a series of requirements requested by the administrative staff of the penitentiary institution, to achieve with this information and with different premises referring to the paradigms of penitentiary architecture, develop a contemporary architectural proposal that can satisfy and resolve overcrowding among other problems mentioned above that are urgently required. Key words: Rehabilitation center, Social reintegration, Municipality of Montero
